THE AUTHOR
Our latest book client, Sarah Arthur-Young is an accomplished business owner, a wonderful mother to little Ethan and now, a published author. Her new book, titled “What Magic Can I Create Today?”, is a collection of affirmations designed to inspire and empower young readers. Sarah has been wanting to bring out a book for children for about eight years, and with Maja’s support and encouragement, she finally accomplished her goal this year.
The book aims to provide support to children who may be facing struggles and uncertainties in life, offering them affirmations to uplift their spirits and help them feel stronger and more empowered. Sarah’s colorful personality and her personal experiences with affirmations, yoga, and meditation influenced the content of the book. Through her book, she wants to make a positive impact on young readers and encourage them to embrace gratitude, kindness, and a positive mindset
THE CHALLENGE
During this project, we faced several challenges that required our attention and creative problem-solving. Our primary goal as designers was to capture the vibrant personality of the author, Sarah, and bring her book vision to life.
When Sarah finally decided to move forward with publishing, like many of our clients, we supported her through any doubts that arose along the way. It was crucial for us to align our creative approach with Sarah’s ideas and aspirations. We needed to also strike the right balance with the book’s target audience. While it was initially intended for younger kids and teenagers, it also resonates with a broader age group, including adults.
Ensuring that the design appealed to both younger and older readers required careful consideration. We aimed to create a visually appealing design that reflected Sarah’s vibrant personality. To achieve this, we took inspiration from Sarah’s vibrant Instagram account and translated it into the book’s visual elements. Typography and color choices played a crucial role in capturing her message and making the design engaging and impactful.
THE OUTCOME
Through meticulous attention to detail, we successfully captured Sarah’s vibrant personality in the design of the book. The typography and color choices were thoughtfully selected to bring her unique style to life, creating a visually captivating experience. Each page exudes creativity, energy, and a sense of adventure, reflecting Sarah’s spirit and the power of affirmations.
